WRITING: Blogging, Memoir, Online Content, Screenwriting, Scripts

Writing and storytelling were my original passions, placed in the background as I leaned into motherhood and focused on honing my artist management and executive skills.

My passion was reignited following the sudden and untimely death of my late husband in 2007, who was killed by a drunk driver. What began as a Myspace (!) online journal, eventually became the dedicated grief blog “Changing Lanes”. At a time when resources for young widows was rare and largely unavailable (in person or online), my blog brought opportunities to connect with a much wider audience in need, a connection that inspired me to train as a personal coach and gain additional certifications in the grief & bereavement space. Eventually, the blog entries were curated and edited into a book in 2015 by the same name.

My follow-up blog “Rise of Your Life” was written specifically to compliment my grief coaching practice. During this time, I also created content for other online outlets and was the National Grief Contributor for Examiner.com, and was invited by a national conference as a workshop leader.

In spite of all of the above, I have always been a witty person, and my natural writing tendency tends toward the comedic. My desire to shift the focus of my writing/content found a solution in the pandemic, where I decided to turn downtime into opportunity by taking screenwriting courses, which has led to the development of several original pilots. While I have only been studying in this area for a few years now, the process of building worlds, creating dynamic characters, and watching story unfold on the page absolutely speaks to my core, and I am actively seeking new opportunities to expand my creative development and script writing skills, possibly as part of a more diverse role.
